developing all people into fully devoted followers of Christ

Sowing Hope

Sowing Hope seeks to mobilize Wooster Grace to minister to the people on the South side of Wooster.  We offer many opportunities to reach out.  Connie Benchoff, Sowing Hope intern, coordinates this ministry. She leads a small group of girls. Once a week they gather for an activity and a brief bible study and prayer.  Our hope is to launch a boys group and a second girls group along with a homework club in 2010.  If you feel that God is prompting you to help out, please contact Connie Benchoff at (330) 264-9459 ext. 133 or by email at cbenchoff@woostergrace.org.

Our summer 2009 intern, Jacob Kern, stretched us by suggesting that Wooster Grace lease an apartment next to the Towers so that he could ministry closer to the families in that area.  He gathered small groups to do life together and sought to challenge all who would give him time to follow Christ.  He would take time to sit outside this past summer and engage conversations with those in the surrounding community.

Some of the different ways we minister include, but are not limited to:

  • Transportation to church for services
  • Facilitating special events like Give-a-Christmas; Thanksgiving Dinner; Valentine's Day party; etc.
  • Advocacy and partnership with Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority
  • Summer picnics
  • Shellin Park Bible Day Camp
  • Vacation BIble School
